Amazing Nipple Gear

I've been married to my beautiful wife for 6 years, and I've seen her wear some amazing sexy outfits, but this week has seen some firsts.

A cabbage leaf bikini top. Yep, she says its cooling. I say its nutritious and filling.

A tank-top with flaps that drop. Where was this during our honeymoon?

Not to mention that she hasn't worn a shirt...in about 2 days.

Love This

One of my current favorites. Its such a touching song, and the lyrics tug at my heart.

Stephen Curtis Chapman - Cinderella (Lyrics)

She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders

It's been a long day
And there's still work to do
She's pulling at me
Saying "Dad, I need you

There's a ball at the castle
And I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone...

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

She will be gone

Well, she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowing and telling us all they had planned
She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
But I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

Laney Roo meets the family!

So Tuesday morning, brought all the excited grandparents. First, I would love to thank Grandpa Hans and Grandma Cindy for stopping by. Ofcourse, I wasn't able to snap any photos of them as they crooned over baby Laney. It was such a special time. Love you guys.

But then trouble came, yep, my parents arrived. Here's a few photos from when Delaney first met her Grandma and Grandpa Q.
(Here's lil Laney Roo meeting Grandpa Q. She's wondering where all his hair went.)
(Grandma and Grandpa telling Laney about how adorable she is and how she got all that hair.)

(Grandpa says that she passed the Grandma check-up and that we can keep her.)

(Remember Laney, just remember Grandma's mantra, "What happens at Grandma's stays at Grandma's)

Finally, Grandma Rhonda, Uncle Kyle, and Aunt Jessica got to meet Laney. By that time, she had changed into her fashionable pink-striped onesie just to show off too her Aunt Jessie. They all loved her, and she loved them all.
Neat fact of the day: Uncle David was born at 12:48 am and he weighed 8 lbs and 9 oz. Laney Roo was born at 12:46 am and she weighed 8 lbs and 9 oz.

Hello Laney Roo, Daddy loves you. Part 2.

Lil Laney Roo was born at 12:46 am on October 5, 2010. She was 8 lbs and 9 oz. She loves her mommy and daddy. (For now, we'll have to see what she thinks in about 16 years.) Here's a few more photos of Lil Roo on her first day.
(Lil Laney Roo gets some long-waited 'Mommy time'. Also notice the dark hair. She's a beauty and has think hair. During birth, here hair was the first thing we saw, and at one point during the final stretch the Dr Lady grabbed the locks that were first pushed out and said, "I'm not going to let you go anywhere." I thought it was quite funny.)

(Mommy and baby were pretty exhausted, and this is one of the few times Lil Roo has kept her hat on. )

Hello Laney Roo, Daddy loves you. Part 1.

Talk about intense. From my perspective, clueless father-to-be, the human body birthing a child is intense. Nothing like it. And while I titled the blog, Matt the Superhero, the super hero is really Stacy. She makes human beings...and delivers them.

Here's a few of my favorites from that night...

(An excited Stacy finishes some last second work. Can your PC do that?)

(Birthing Superpower: Advance Cellular Communication)

(At this point the contractions were so intense that I feared for my life, since I obviously was the cause of all this.)

(The epidurals kicking in, and Stacy is starting to rapidly progress at this point.)

(Wonderful little Delaney comes into the world with a full set of developed lungs.)

Hehehe

Last night I was rambling on about how I'm not a big fan of the lyrical content in Eminem's new song, "Love the way you lie", but I couldn't help smiling at Stacy's response.

It went something like this....
Me: "You know, I heard that new song, and I really don't think I like Eminem now."
Stacy: "You don't like M&M's"
Me: "No, the rapper."
Stacy: "They come in wrappers. Do you have some?"
Me: smile!

Things I learned about Laney!

Here's a list of things I learned about Laney this weekend:

- She's not a big fan of traditional Mexican food. We visited Adobo Grill for our 'babymoon' and she kicked, and kicked, and kicked. Not just "hey, i'm here" kicks, these were "what the hell is this kicks"

- If she's anything like her mother, she'll be a floater. Unfortunately, her dad is a sinker. Think Leo off the movie, Titanic. I sink. Bad equillibrium I guess.

- She's not afraid of spiders. At least not now. During our Maternity pictures, we were doing a couple picture in the grass, and a spider about the size of quarter, scuttle over my wife's pregnant belly and into the thick brush. ~~~We changed location after that.

- If given the choice between choosing coffee or fudge, a pregnant woman and her unborn child will choose fudge every time.

Laney Rue Rules: No Sailing Around the World

Dear Laney,

I know you will want to accomplish a lot of things throughout your life. And if you are anything like your mother, you'll probably be quite ambitious.

Fair warning, I probably will not allow you to sail around the world until you are at least 18.

There is one exception to this rule. If the cruise is on a big luxurious yacht, and your mother and I are allowed to come along.

:) Love you.

ETA - 38 days

Woot!

Laney Rue - Your mom always hates it when I use the term ETA. It stands for "Estimated Time of Arrival".

ETA - 38 days.

Fashion Tights

Yeah, so I purchased fashion tights yesterday. Purple polka dots.

Why? Well, they are fashionable, stylish, and useful. They add a little extra to everybody's wardrobe.

Except mine, becuase I'm a t-shirt and shorts guy. But, little girl, she'll love'em.

2 years ago, i'd probably used that money to buy a six-pack of Shandy or a new bottle of BBQ sauce. But today, I just can't pass up a cute onsie, or children's book, or pair of booties.

So Laney Rue, I'm looking forward to seeing you. With only a few weeks to go, I'm getting things all set up.
